The COVID-19 crisis has been a litmus test for old-style shareholder capitalism. As the world emerges from tyranny of virus, new standards organizational behaviors will be expected: one where humankind demands that organizations fulfill broader purpose and at its center enhancing societal value contribution. environmental, social governance (ESG) factors now become important yardsticks measuring resilient organization, therefore, sustainable society. Gone are days when what was good business, A frame is evolving which inverses proposition, i.e., society business. ESG frame. article explores this paradigm shift in thinking. It academic literature on evolution investing, illustrating application organization as case study Unilever then addressing ways ESG. concludes with challenges faces today moving forward. Overall, objective to provide short synthesis an success measure demanded by society, particularly due experience pandemic related crises during 2020.
